PRESS RELEASE
FRG: THE STATE GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE
Port-au-Prince, October 8, 2026 — Prime Minister H.E. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé officially launched the deployment of the Gang Repression Force (FRG) this Thursday during a solemn flag-raising ceremony at the Vertières base in Tabarre.
In the presence of representatives of the Government, the six countries contributing troops, the diplomatic corps and the United Nations, the head of Government presented this stage as a turning point in the fight against armed groups and in the recovery of the authority of the State.
"The State must regain control of its territory," the Prime Minister emphasized, recalling that the FRG's mission aims to enable the recovery of areas occupied by gangs, the protection of the population, and the restoration of republican order.
However, the head of government stressed that the security response must pave the way for the return of justice, public services and state authority, essential conditions for holding free, transparent and credible elections.
Guatemala, El Salvador, Chad, Mongolia, Jamaica, and Sri Lanka are participating in this force alongside Haiti. Their representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Haitian forces in this new phase.
The ceremony was marked by military demonstrations that showcased the operational capabilities of the contingents. From Vertières, the government seeks to send a clear message: the recovery of the territory, the protection of the population, and the restoration of republican order are now the central focus of the State's actions.
