PRESS RELEASE

Port-au-Prince, October 28, 2026 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Her Excellency Ms. Raina Forbin, held a videoconference conversation with the Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Her Excellency Ms. Noemí Espinoza Madrid, on the prospects for strengthening cooperation between Haiti and the countries of the Greater Caribbean.

This meeting provided an opportunity to assess the progress in implementing the Regional Action Plan for Haiti, as well as to exchange views on the guidelines that will inform the preparations for the next meeting of the ad hoc Steering Committee on Humanitarian Assistance and Development in the Republic of Haiti. During the dialogue, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government, led by Prime Minister His Excellency Mr. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, to promote a paradigm shift in international cooperation, prioritizing sustainable development, productive investment, and the strengthening of national capacities, rather than an approach based solely on emergency aid.

The Minister advocated, in particular, for better coordination of international interventions with national priorities. This meeting demonstrates Haiti's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the ACS and transforming regional cooperation into a true engine for economic recovery and sustainable development.
