Tourism in Venezuela grew 72% in the first half of 2025
During the end of June 2025, tourism in Venezuela grew by 72% compared to the same period in 2024, as stated by the Minister of Tourism, Leticia Gómez, after highlighting that tourism is part of the seven strategic lines developed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to achieve economic transformation.
“Venezuela is undergoing a process of economic diversification, incorporating tourism among the priority sectors for economic and social growth. At the international level, the country has established bilateral agreements with various nations and has designed a specific tourism collaboration program where training, education, and the exchange of experiences are fundamental components,” he stated.
The minister stated that in 2024, tourism impacted the global economy with 11.1 trillion US dollars, positioning itself as the sector that generates the most jobs globally with more than 300 million jobs.
He also highlighted that tourism in Venezuela is part of the economic transformation along with the social transformation, in which they work together with universities and schools to develop professional and community training mechanisms in tourism.
